We are looking for a Head Coach to join our team in beautiful Nelson, BC.!!
We offer high quality Recreational and Competitive artistic swimming programs to athletes of all ages. We currently have approximately 15 athletes and continuously growing since the pandemic. Practice time is typically scheduled for after school hours 3-4 days/week. Travel time is required on the weekends for 3 events per year in BC (Fun Meet, Provincial Qualifiers and Provincials). Location: Nelson, British Columbia Hours: Part time 15-20 hours per week Wage: $24-$26 per hour (based on qualifications and experience) + moving allowance $1,000 Start Date: August 2023 to prepare for the September 2023-24 Season Responsibilities include: • Lead seasonal and practice planning, choreography of routines, programming for figures and workouts • Provide on deck coaching for athletes during regular weekly training, competitions as applicable, and other events (local Water Shows) • Supervise and assist all athletes during competitive weekends in hotels and swimming facilities • Work to develop lifelong athletes that have good sportsmanship, confidence, and character beyond the sport of artistic swimming • Assist other artistic swimming Coaches and teams within our club; lead weekly/monthly on deck coaching meetings with all coaches • Complete athlete evaluations twice a year; provide constructive feedback and communication to athletes as needed; maintain athlete and training records • Able to select music that is appropriate for the skill and ability of the swimmers; present music options to athletes and encourage input from athletes on final routine theme, choreography and music (based on skill level) • Attend Coaches meetings, club functions (watershows, training camps etc.), and professional development opportunities • Provide regular communication to parents of athletes and board of directors • Order swimsuits and other equipment as needed • Submit monthly time sheet to board of directors • Adhere to all pool and safety regulations Qualifications: • Current Canada Artistic Swimming training and/or certification applicable to the competitive level (or able to complete required training by September 2023) • Previous Artistic Swimming coaching experience and/or previous or current artistic swimming experience • In good standing with BCAS + CAS • Clear Criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector children and youth) • First Aid Training • Excellent organization and communication skills To apply, please email a cover letter and resume to: [email protected] |
